Tips for Moving Across the World

Out of all my friends at school, I was the only one passionate about studying abroad. When it came time to apply, I knew I was going to be doing this mostly alone. Here is what I've learned in my first 3 weeks of studying abroad.
1. Don't Overthink It
If you've always wished to travel the word: Do it. This is might be the one time in your life that you have this amazing opportunity. You don't have work or a family tying you down. Your only responsibilities are school doing the week and seeing as much as you can on the weekends. Don't let the anxiety of being in a new country stop you.
2. Meet as Many People as Possible
Talk to people in your classes. Talk to people in cafes. Talk to people that you're traveling with. The most fun experiences I've had so far are with people that I just met. Don't be afraid to go up to people and start talking, they might become one of your best friends.
3. Become Friends with Your Roommates
Even though some of girls from my home school are studying at the same school in Florence, I decided to choose random roommates. I want my study abroad experience to be all about meeting new people and trying new things. Even if you don't do everything together, you at least have new people to share dinners with, memories and travel suggestions with.
4. Step Out of Your Comfort Zone
I am the pickiest eater I know, I don't like being in large crowds, and I tend to complain in the slightest uncomfortable condition. I've tried foods I thought I would hate, jumped into the biggest crowds and have taken every minor setback as an excuse for a bigger comeback. You only have this opportunity once. Don't waste it.
